You can set up an automatic out-of-office response for any phone number in Clerk Chat. This ensures customers receive a clear message when they contact you outside your designated business hours.

How to set up out-of-office

  • Open the phone number settings
    Navigate to the phone number you want to update. Click the three dots next to the number and choose Settings.

  • Go to Working Hours
    Select Working Hours to configure when your company is open and operating.

  • Enable Out of Office
    Make sure the Out of Office toggle is switched on if you want the automatic reply to activate outside your working hours.

  • Set Your Time Zone
    Choose the correct time zone to ensure messages are sent at the right times.

  • Choose Your Schedule

    • Weekdays only

    • Every day

    • Custom hours

    Select the option that matches when your team is available. Adjust the open/close times as needed.

  • Write Your Out-of-Office Message
    Type the message contacts will receive when they reach out during non-working hours. This could be a simple acknowledgment or instructions on when to expect a response.
