Contact Management
Access all of your contacts by selecting Contacts from the sidebar.

From the Contacts page, you’ll see a complete list of your contacts, along with several tools to help you organize, update, and manage them.
What you can do from the Contacts page
Search contacts: Type a name, number, or keyword into the search bar to quickly find who you’re looking for.
Filter contacts: Add one or more filters to narrow down the list or quickly build a new list based on shared properties.
Toggle “My contacts”: View only the contacts you personally created.
Import contacts: Click Import contacts to bring contacts into Clerk Chat using one of our integrations or by uploading a CSV file.
Add a new contact: Click Add contact to manually create a new contact.
You can also click on any contact to open the full contact card.
The contact card
Each contact has a dedicated contact card where you can view and manage their details.
Here’s what you’ll find:
Name: View or edit the contact’s name.
Message button: Click Message to start a conversation. If you have access to multiple phone numbers, you’ll be prompted to choose which number to use.
Opt-out status: Confirm or update whether the contact has opted out of receiving messages.
Personal contacts: If you created the contact, you can mark them as personal to you. Personal contacts are private and visible only to you. They do not appear in your team’s shared contact list.
About section: Click the dropdown arrow to expand or collapse all properties. You can add new properties or update existing ones from here.
Lists section: Expand this section to view all lists the contact belongs to.
Add a contact to a static list
You can quickly add a contact to any static list directly from the conversation view.
Click the three dots in the top-right corner of the conversation and select Add to a list. From there, you can search for an existing list, select one, or create a new list on the spot.
Deleting a contact
You can delete contacts directly from the Contacts page.
Select one or more contacts by checking the box next to their name.
A small action bar will appear at the bottom of the screen with options to Create a list, Add to a list, Export, or Delete selected contact(s).
Click Delete selected contact(s).
Deleting isn’t automatic. Clerk Chat will first display a confirmation popup to ensure you want to proceed. Once confirmed, the deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
Importing contacts using a CSV file
You can quickly upload contact lists into Clerk Chat using a CSV file.
To begin, go to Integrations from the sidebar, or click Import Contacts from the top right of the Contacts page.
Find CSV Import and click Connect to open the importer. From here you could also connect to your CRM via an integration.
You’ll see a data preview. Drag and drop your CSV file into the upload area, or choose a file from your device.
Scroll down to review your import options:
Add as new contacts
Add contacts to a list (you can choose an existing list or create a new one)
Use Auto-Map Contact Properties to speed up setup. Clerk Chat will automatically match common fields, such as Name, Email, and Phone Number, to the right contact properties. You can confirm or adjust these mappings before finalizing the import.
Once confirmed, your contacts will be added to Clerk Chat and ready to use in messages, lists, workflows, and campaigns.
