Voice to SMS Follow-Up
With Voice to SMS Follow-Up, you can automatically send a relevant text message after a phone call ends. This allows you to continue the conversation, share resources, or confirm next steps, all over SMS. The follow-up message can reference details from the call, making it contextually relevant and more engaging for your customer.

How the automatic follow-up works after a voice call
When a call ends, whether it’s completed by your AI agent or the caller, a “call ended” trigger can be used to launch an automated text follow-up.
This follow-up can include information including (but not limited to):
A thank-you or confirmation message
A scheduling link or next step
Additional information discussed during the call
Because the AI agent has full context of the conversation, it can generate a specific and personalized follow-up message.
How to set up Voice to SMS Follow-Ups
Go to the Agents section in Clerk Chat.
Locate your AI agent and click the pencil icon to edit a node.
Under Triggers, select “Call Ended.”
Add the node or pipeline for your SMS follow-up.
Customize the prompt to define the type of message you’d like to send (e.g., thank-you, recap, or next-step message).
Save your changes.
Once enabled, every time a call ends, the system will automatically trigger the SMS follow-up sequence.
Example use cases
A sales call ends → Clerk Chat AI sends a thank-you text with a meeting recap.
A support call ends → Clerk Chat AI texts a troubleshooting article.
A scheduling call ends → Clerk Chat AI texts a calendar invite or confirmation message.
Note: This feature is not automatic by default. It must be manually configured using the “Call Ended” trigger in your AI agent workflow.
