Step by step process for installing and setting up Clerk in Slack

Navigate to https://clerk.chat/slack and click the “Add To Slack” button

Note: If you do not have a Slack account refer to the following documentation on setting up your workspace: https://slack.com/help/articles/206845317-Create-a-Slack-workspace

Enable Clerk to access your Slack workspace by pressing Allow.

Hit the ☎️ Click Here button under #clerk-sms channel

Provision a Phone Number

Select your primary use case for Clerk and input your mobile phone number.

Note: Mobile numbers are used for verification purposes only. Only mobile numbers are supported, VoIP numbers such as google voice will NOT work.

Verify Your Phone Number

Choose your phone number. You can either provision a new phone number or bring your own.

  1. Select Country

  2. Select State

  3. Select Area code

Provision a New Number

Note: Not all area codes are available. For example 212 area code is highly desirable and rarely available. Select an alternative area code in your area.

Your phone number is now active in Slack

Bring Your Own Number

Clerk supports importing existing phone numbers from all carriers. You can either choose to port your number to Clerk or host just the SMS portion of the number. Clerk supports native integrations with Twilio, RingCentral, Zoom, and other carriers.

VoIP/Landline

VoIP or Landline phone number activation can range from immediate to a few days. Refer to our documentation on enabling sms with your existing carrier for the details.
