With eFax, your team can manage faxes alongside your other Clerk Chat conversations, keeping everything organized, trackable, and compliant.

To add an eFax number to your Clerk Chat account, contact our team at sales@clerk.chat.

What is Clerk Chat eFax?

Clerk Chat eFax allows your team to:

  • Send and receive faxes digitally from Clerk Chat, similar to sending a text message

  • Use dedicated fax numbers for specific teams, locations, or departments

  • Work with all major image-based file types (PDF, PNG, JPG, and more)

Because faxes live in Clerk Chat, you can keep communication centralized and easier to audit.

How eFax works in Clerk Chat

Sending faxes

Once eFax is enabled for your account and you’ve been granted access to a fax number:

  1. Open the fax-enabled phone number inbox.

  2. In the To: field, enter the recipient’s fax number.

  3. Attach the document(s) you want to fax.

  4. Click Send.

Cover pages: To include a cover letter, attach it as the first document in your fax. The receiving side will see it as the first page of the fax.

Maximum file size for sending or receiving faxes: 50 MB.

Receiving faxes

To receive a fax:

  1. Share your Clerk Chat fax number with the sender.

  2. Incoming faxes will appear in the associated fax phone number inbox.

  3. You’ll see the faxed documents as electronic attachments within the conversation.

From there, your team can review, download, or forward the attachments as needed.

Managing eFax access and numbers

Once eFax is enabled for your account:

  • You can set up one or more dedicated fax numbers for specific teams or departments.

  • Admins can designate which team members are allowed to send and receive faxes on each fax number.

This helps ensure only the right people have access to sensitive faxed information.

Key eFax features

Clerk Chat eFax is designed with compliance and operational visibility in mind:

  • Email forwarding for incoming faxes
Forward all incoming fax messages for a given fax number to a designated email address that can be authenticated by Clerk Chat.

  • Archiving & auditability
Keep all fax activity archived and trackable within Clerk Chat for compliance reviews and audits.

This makes it easier for legal, compliance, or operations teams to review fax history when needed.
